In the world of kids entertainment Pokémon was the leader at the start of the digital age having started off as a Game Boy game it quickly grew to encompass a trading card game and a long-running animated TV series. Staying strong for a number of years its popularity did wane eventually. The company kept the franchise going by developing new TV series with different characters and even kept the videogames trickling out.

Now the franchise has exploded back into virtually everyone’s household again with the release of Pokémon Go in July 2016. Now SoftSwiss decided to jump on the bandwagon by creating its own version of the popular mobile game in attempts to attract younger gaming generation and introduce them to their video slots.

Slotomon Go is the end result and since SoftSwiss has absolutely no licensing rights with the company whatsoever they have decided to create a blatant rip off. The symbols are their own original creations of the pocket monsters starting with an oversized crow-like bird, a cross between a pony with the arms of a gorilla and the claws of a bear, to an otter-like creature, a double-headed cactus, a ghost wearing sunglasses, a blue octopus with spiked tentacles, and orange lizard with flaming electrical abilities, a strange mushroom capped creature, and the star the of show is a flaming tailed Red monkey.

One can’t fault the originality and slight resemblance to the famous characters but they just do not have the same style and tone as the originals. When combinations are made with three characters in a row on a pay line, the symbols are merely shifted with no additional animation as they use a simple trick with the 3-D graphics, all on a five reel slot using only five pay lines.

Special Features

A giant yellow diamond has the dual role of the wild symbol and as a scatter. On its own it can substitute for any other symbol but with three or more appear when you will be awarded with 10 free spins. Now the real bonuses appear as a multiplier will now be active. For three “Gems” you get a 15x pay out, four will give you 150x and five a massive 1500x bonus; each of them related to the amount of your original wager.

Bonus Feature

The hook for Pokémon Go is the concept and excitement of going out into the real world to find and catch virtual pets. Slotomon Go has none of that spirit and a definitely shows in the lack of any other bonus features whatsoever.
