About Double Bonus Poker

Double Bonus Poker is one of Microgaming’s many video poker variants. This game doesn’t actually look that different from any of their other video poker titles, although it is in its gameplay that Double Bonus Poker stands out. Players can win up to 4,000 coins with this game.

How to play

To begin playing Double Bonus Poker, a player must first a bet. After they have made their bet, the player will be dealt a total of 5 cards. The player must then decide which cards they wish to keep, and which they wish to discard. You can do this by clicking on them. If you’re content, then click on the draw button to receive new cards. You five-card hand is then complete and will be measured against the paytable, to see if you warrant a pay-out.

You’re probably wondering why the game is called Double Bonus, if it doesn’t use wilds, right? Well, the name actually comes from the fact that there are additional pay-outs for hands constructed as 4 of a Kinds. That is all there is to it, really.

Wagering and prizes

In the bottom left hand of the gaming menu bar, players can choose coin values. These range from 25p up to a total of £5. Players can then opt to stake between 1 and 5 coins per hand. Minimum and maximum wagers in Double Bonus Poker range from 25p per hand, up to a total of £25 per hand.

The good thing about Double Bonus Poker is that players can pocket wins for hands as small as Jacks or Better. That low paying hand is beaten by a 2 Pair, 3 of a Kind, Straight and Flush. Players can beat those hands with a Full House.

The 4 of a Kind hands which offer additional pay-outs include 4 of a Kind (5s – Kings), 4 of a Kind (2s, 3s and 4s), and 4 of a Kind (Aces). Even these are beaten by a Straight Flush, and that in turn is bettered by a Royal Flush. Royal Flushes can see players pocket as much as 4,000 coins, when playing with 5 coin bets.

Final thoughts

The more coins you bet per hand in this game, the bigger the winnings will be. As for the game itself, Double Bonus Poker offers you good wins if you land 4 of a Kind hands. Aside from that, pay-outs are pretty regular.
