About Mystery Star

Mystery Star isn't really that mysterious after all. What you have here is a simple fruit machine, which contains mild astronomy themed background. The title of the slot is somewhat misleading, and that is poor from its developers, Novomatic. This very run-of-the-mill fruit machine is played over a paltry 5 reels and 5 lines, none of which you want to adjust even if you could – which you can't. Players can choose to alter their line bet from 0.08 up to 20.00, and this will see your wager balloon from 0.40 per spin, up to 100.00 per spin. We're not quite sure why you would wager so much money on a slot which offers so little in return, though. Even its non-progressive jackpot can only see you win 400 coins at the most. It is simply bad form from Novomatic.

Special Features

Special features really are few and far between in this game. Mystery Star contains a scatter icon, but no wild. This scatter symbol takes the shape of a golden star, and it can offer you scattered wins when 3, 4 or 5 such symbols appear anywhere on the reels, but that's about all it can do.

Aside from that, the only other feature in this game is the gamble feature, and if you've ever used one in slots before, they aren't that impressive. Here's a bit more information about it.

Bonus Feature

The gamble feature in Mystery Star is hardly going to compensate for the lack of a good bonus round. In fact, it doesn't compensate for any bonus round, good or otherwise. After any winning spin, you can choose to gamble your winnings if you wish, simply by clicking on the gamble button. You must then choose whether you think the next card will be red or black. If you're successful, you will double your winnings. If you guess incorrectly, you'll lose the lot. A 50% chance of success is hardly tempting.

The problem with Mystery Star is that it asks a lot in terms of wagers, and offers you very little in return. There are no wilds, there are no free spins, no multipliers, no bonus rounds, no pick and wins. Even its title is misleading. In short, you have just the plain and standard fruit symbols, and a scatter icon. It is hardly the kind of slot to thrill players, and doesn't live up to its wagering range.
