About Blood Lust

ELK Studios’ Blood Lust is this software provider’s take on the eternally popular vampire-themed slot genre. It is always tough to create a game that stands out from the crowd here. There are so many good vampire slots out there (Immortal Romance and Blood Suckers have set the benchmark high) that ELK Studios needed to do something unique with Blood Lust to stand out. They didn’t. Instead, they have seemingly just pinched the mechanics and engine from Crusader. Blood Lust is a game that features five reels and 99 paylines. Despite this, it costs as little as 0.20 per spin, rising to 100.00 a game. The RTP rate is right where we would expect it to be, at 96%, and as is often the case in relatively new games such as this, Blood Lust has a highly volatile nature. This will create friction with players because its non-progressive jackpot of 2,500x doesn’t quite ring true for a conventional, highly volatile game. In short, the jackpot is too low.

Special Features

What you need to spice things up here is an array of features. Fortunately, Blood Lust has a few to offer. Unfortunately, they won’t be new to you if you’ve played Crusader before. First up, there is a wild which can replace all conventional symbols. Secondly, there is a Boosted Re-Spin mode. This can occur should its triggering icon (candles) appear on the fifth reel. At that point, a symbol is chosen at random, and all instances of it are held on the screen for a re-spin.

You’ll also get a Boosted Stacks mode here. Symbols can be randomly chosen to appear stacked at the start of each spin. This has the potential to provide bigger wins but also makes winning less likely, as it is easier for wayward symbols to get in the way of landing combos.

Finally, you need three scatters to trigger a free spin round. Each scatter can bestow between one and three spins, meaning you can start with a minimum of three, up to fifteen in all.

Bonus Feature

After triggering the free games round, the three lowest paying thematic symbols can appear in meters above the reels. As soon as you start landing them, their respective meters will become full. Once full, they will add free games to your tally, with those symbols transforming into Dracula icons.
