This is another video poker game from Wazdan, and in all honesty, it isn’t that different from their American Poker Gold video poker title. The only real difference between the games (aside from their titles) is the design, and the smaller jackpot carried.

How to play

To begin playing American Poker V, a player must first stake a bet. After they have done so, the rather boring cards will reveal your first poker hand. As with all video poker games, you must decide which cards are worth keeping, and which aren’t.

After doing so, you will be given replacements cards for those you want removed. Those replacements cards will complement the ones you already have, to form a final poker hand. This is then measured against the paytable to see if you’re a winner.

Because American Poker V uses multiple decks, it is entirely possible that you could end up with a % of a Kind in this game, even without wild cards. That is the best paying hand you can hope for. If the game isn’t moving fast enough for you, there is always a turbo button which can be used to speed things up.

Wagering and prizes

At the bottom of the screen – below the ordinary looking playing cards – are the wagering menus. You can opt to bet anything from a low of just 1 credit per hand, up to a maximum bet of 1,000 credits per hand.

Final thoughts

Where to begin with this game? American Poker V doesn’t have that much in the way of excitement to offer. Yes, it is nice that multiple decks are used, but the game is costly. It is also very dull in terms of its design. There is precious little to associate this game with its title, and it certainly doesn’t do anything you cannot find in Wazdan’s American Poker Gold video poker game, which even has a better jackpot for you to win.
