About American Poker Gold

How to play

The game is very American in terms of its design, but it is very plain Jane from its wagering menu. After betting, you’re 5 Statue of Liberty cards will turn over to reveal your very first poker hand. You can then decide which of these cards you wish to keep to be a part of your second hand.

Any cards you do not choose to keep will be replaced by new ones. Once you have your second hand, your poker hand will be complete. It will then be matched against a pay-table to determine whether or not you have won.

This game will try and convince you to hold the cards it recommends, but any good poker player worth their salt will see through the game’s strategy. You will probably have your own ideas about which cards to keep. All you have to do is click on a card to hold or discard it as you wish.

Wagering and prizes

In American Poker Gold, players will not have much control over how their bets are sorted. Coin values are always fixed at 1 credit, and players can stake anything from a low of just 1 credit per hand, up to a maximum of 1,000 credits per game. There won’t be too many people who will wish to wager that kind of cash on a simply video poker title.

After your hand is complete, you will win if you match a hand from the paytable. The lowest paying hand in this slot is a pair of Jacks or Better. Having this hand will result in you getting your money back. You can win more money with 2 Pairs, 3 of a Kind, Straight, Flush, Full House, 4 of a Kind, Straight Flush, Royal Flush or 5 of a Kind hands.

Final thoughts

You can only win with a 5 of a Kind in this game because American Gold Poker uses a separate set of cards for each card in the hand. That is quite original, making this game fun to play, if you can forgive the lengthy loading times.
